Matzo Balls for All
The 14th annual “Matzo Ball” is set for Christmas Eve, Sunday Dec. 24 at Avalon, 15 Lansdowne St. in Boston. The annual fete is the inspiration of local entrepreneur Andy Rudnick, who devised the social, dance, and party event to which, traditionally, young Jewish singles can go on Christmas Eve. But, says Rudnick, “Matzo Ball” is open to everyone. “You don’t have to be Jewish, straight, single or whatever to attend, and if you don’t want to stay home, alone, and watch ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ for the 100th time, ‘Matzo Ball’ is the place to be on Christmas Eve.” Rudnick says last year’s event attracted some 2,500 revelers. Nightclub entrepreneur Seth Greenberg is the honorary “poster boy” for the 14th annual “Matzo Ball.” A portion of ticket sales is earmarked for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
